Brutal murder of doctor, his family: Faridabad police identifies suspect

Faridabad: It was a horrifying and shocking site for residents of Sector 7-A Faridabad on Saturday after they found that a 60-year-old radiologist, his wife, daughter and her husband all murdered inside the doctor's house. The deceased was identified as Dr Praveen Mehendiratta (60), wife Sudesh (56), daughter Priyanka (27) and son-in-law Saurabh Kataria.

Dr Mehendiratta also had a son Darpan was not present in the house at that time as he was on the job. Darpan works in a private company in Gurugram and had an evening shift at a time when his entire family was gruesomely killed.

Twenty four hours after the gruesome killings Faridabad police seems to have closed in on the suspect which they believe is Darpan's friend.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect has been identified as Mukesh who is a gym trainer in Dabua locality in Faridabad. The police got the lead after they were able to identify the scooty that was driven by the murderer being that of Mukesh.

According to sources in Faridabad police, Mukesh who is on run has also sent a letter to the Faridabad police wherein he has confessed his crime. The motive of the murder however still remains unclear.

According to Faridabad police the crime occurred late Friday night and in the wee hours of Saturday. Dr Mehendiratta used to run his Radiology clinic in the basement of his residence. At the time of the murder, his X-ray machine was switched on.

Stating that it was Dr Praveen Mehendiratta who was first to be killed, sources in the police claim that he was murdered between 10:30 -11:00 pm Friday night. After murdering A radiologist by stabbing him on neck and chest, the murder went upstairs and murdered doctor's wife by stabbing her repeatedly.

It seemed that the murdered knew that Mehendiratta's daughter and her husband would come and visit them. After they entered the residence they too faced the end as their elder. While Priyanka was murdered inside the house. Saurabh was killed at the verandah.

Priyanka and her husband used to reside in Vaishali, Saurabh was working in a private company in Gurugram.

"We have recovered the scooty of Mukesh and also a note where he has confessed to his crime. As of now, it is not clear why he committed the murder. He is on run presently but our team will soon get hold of him," said Anil Kumar ACP (Crime ) Faridabad Police.
