Brothers who abducted doctor from Ola cab held
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday has arrested two brothers Anuj and Sushil wanted in the case of kidnapping of a Delhi-based doctor who was abducted into an Ola cab and a ransom of 5 crore was demanded from the cab company.
The brothers Anuj Gurjar (27) and Sushil Gurjar (35) had meticulously planned and executed the abduction of doctor Shrikant Goud in July from Preet Vihar, Delhi. Both of them were nabbed from Meerut-Roorkee highway on Friday morning.
Earliler, a strong team of 200 Delhi policemen along with UP Police had arrested four persons and successfully rescued the doctor. However, despite the rescue operation, the brother duo gave the police team a slip and were on the run.
Sushil and Anuj were arrested from a field near Nangli Sadharan Gate, Roorkee Road in Daurala. A team of 36 policemen laid a trap near Nangli Sadharan village based on a specific tip-off and apprehended the duo. The brothers demanded Rs 5 crore from Ola to free the doctor, but their plans were cut short by Delhi Police on July 19 and the doctor Srikanth was rescued.
On July 6, the doctor booked the Ola cab from East Delhi, where he had gone for a birthday party. Instead of taking him to his home in south Delhi's Gautam Nagar, the driver drove to Noida, where other gang members got into the car. They all took the doctor to Meerut.
For almost two weeks, the doctor was kept hostage as the gang made ransom calls to Ola and the Metro Hospital where the doctor works.
The driver made the first call to Ola's call centre. The gang also made a video of the doctor on his mobile camera and sent the clips to the doctor's family and Ola.
After the arrest, the Delhi police is planning to bring them to Delhi on production warrants .
"We've to bring them for interrogation after taking police remand from concerned court. They'll be probably be sent to judicial custody to jail in UP. We'll move production warrants accordingly." said Joint CP Delhi police Ravinder Yadav.
