Body of 7-year-old boy recovered from drain after 17 hours

Noida: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team recovered the body of the seven-year-old boy who had fallen in a drain on Monday afternoon in sector 81, after 17 hours of the rescue operation. Officials said that the body was recovered on Tuesday morning.

According to a senior NDRF official, the search operation was stopped around 9.15 pm on Monday and it was resumed again on Tuesday morning at 6.30 pm following which the body was recovered around 8:45 am.

"The body was recovered from the drain on Tuesday morning, nearly 1500 metre downstream from where the boy had fallen. The body had floated in the drain due to heavy water flow and was recovered from a point where the water flow had slowed down" said Jeetendra Yadav, inspector, NDRF.

The officer further said that the body was sent for post mortem and was later handed over to the family members.

Police officials said that the boy, identified as Saurabh, student of class first student at a nearby school, accidentally fell into the drain while playing near the drain.
