BJP worker shot at by 3 men in Jewar

Greater Noida: A BJP worker was allegedly shot at by three men living in his village in Jewar area of Greater Noida on Saturday night. Cops said that the victim has sustained bullet injury at his shoulder.

According to police, the victim identified as Hari Om Sharma, mandal vice-president of Bhartiya Janta Party, was attacked by three men of his village identified as Harkesh, Pankaj and their father Jahangir.

"Sharma was going alone to his farm when the accused persons intercepted him and opened indiscriminate firing on him" said police.

As per victim, the incident occurred around 9 pm in Humayunpur village in Jewar area when the trio of accused attacked him in a bid to kill him.

The accused persons fired nearly two rounds of bullet on him and one bullet hit his shoulder. However, another bullet which was shot at him missed its target and the accused fled the spot.

Locals informed police about the incident and Hariom was rushed to a private hospital in Jewar for treatment.

"Preliminary investigations into the case showed that the accused have a property dispute with the target and were into rivalry from last couple of years. They had also lodged a case against Hariom for assault and criminal intimidation against a female of their house in 2018 and the Gautam Budh Nagar court had issued a warrant against Hariom in the case. The case is still continues to be heard in the Allahabad High Court," the officer said.

Meanwhile, police are yet to make any arrest into the case.

"We have registered a case under section 307 of IPC against the three accused named in the incident. As of now we have not made any arrest but teams have been formed and we are expecting a breakthrough soon," the officer added.
