On October 27 on the occasion of Karva Chauth, a bank employee named Deepika died after falling from the eighth floor of the Valley View society at Gwal Pahari road where she was residing. Though it was initially considered to be a case of suicide, shocking revelations came to fore later where the banker's husband Vikram Chauhan along with his lover Shefali hatched a plan to murder Deepika.

At the time of the death, Deepika was five months pregnant. While Vikram is right now in jail, Shefali who is also pregnant has been granted bail.

There has been a large number of suicides. One of the cases was in September 2017 when a 26-year-old graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 23rd floor of DLF Magnolias, the luxurious residential apartment located at Golf Course road.

According to the police, the main reason for Ankit's suicide was acute depression faced by him. The law enforcement officials claimed that he was grappling with the challenge of mental disease for a long time and was dissatisfied with his current job profile that led him to take the extreme step.
