Before murder, 7-yr-old girl was sexually assaulted, says police
New Delhi: The investigation into the case of the body of a seven-year-old girl found in Outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar's park on Sunday has revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted before the murder. Police have arrested father-son duo in this regard.
On Monday, the family members of the victim protested against the incident and also blocked the roads in the adjoining areas following which the local police had to pacify the crowds. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P Kuruvilla claimed that the accused identified as Rajender (21) and his father Ram Saran (51) killed the girl.
"We suspect that they strangulated the girl and then hit her with the brick. The exact cause of the death will be established once the postmortem report comes out," said DCP Outer.
He further stated that the accused Rajender had lured the child to his home by offering chips and then committed the sexual assault. Later, the child was murdered by both of the accused and her body dumped in a nearby Park. "We have also found that Rajender was earlier involved in POCSO case from 2016," added DCP.
On Saturday, the girl was accompanied by her younger sister on Saturday night to a local shop. Ten minutes later, the girl returned without her elder sister following which the mother looked for the girl. The girl's body was found by her father and uncle on Sunday morning inside a park near the girl's house.
According to deceased family members, both the accused are unknown to the family. "Today, we protested against the incident," added the relative.
Taking suo-moto cognizance of the rape and murder, the commission has issued a notice to the Joint Commissioner of Police seeking reasons for police inaction on the missing child's complaint filed by the girl's father.
Appealing to the citizens, DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that the people must come on the streets to push for justice to rape victims.
The Delhi Commission for Women will soon launch a people's movement to voice the concerns of rape in the city and the prolonged wait for justice for the victims.
Another minor assaulted
DCW chief in Swati Maliwal on Monday tweeted "Now, 5 year old girl raped in Naraina by a 40 year old man. The child has suffered terribly and has bled a lot. On my way to the Hospital to see her. Delhi is truly the RAPE CAPITAL of the world. God help us all!!!"
DCP (West) Monika Bharadwaj claimed that the incident took place on February 6 and today a PCR call was received after which the victim was taken for medical examination. "A case was registered and the accused has been arrested. The child's condition is stable," DCP said.
