Be careful while buying luxury watch!

New Delhi: "We sell luxury branded watches in less prices," these words were used by shopkeepers to dupe the tourists visiting market. In a recent case, Delhi Police arrested two persons, Arun and Mohammad Murtaza, with more than 500 fake watches and their parts in Chandni Chowk market.

The investigating agency revealed that they were earning profit by selling counterfeit watches after telling customers that they cannot get such original watches at low

prices.

"The accused said that they bought watches with the golden wrist belt for Rs 60 and later sold them for Rs 1,000-1,200 to tourists. While other designer watches cost them Rs 150-200," added investigator.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad said that they had registered a case in this regard.

"The investigation is going on," said DCP North.

Police said that they received a complaint from an employee of the private company regarding the sale of counterfeit watches in Lajpat Rai market in Chandni Chowk area.

"We conducted the raid on Arun's shop and recovered watches. The other accused Murtaza was also found selling fake products in a small cart. Both were nabbed," added police.

The investigating agency did not recover any bill or GST number from the accused.

The investigator further added that some customers were able to recognise that the watches were fake so they did not fell on the trap of these accused.

"But some people who were new in the city easily duped by them," said the investigator adding that Arun used to purchase fake watches and the parts to assemble them.

"Murtaza only buys ready made fake watches," added an officer.

The investigating agency is now focusing on the fact that from where the accused purchased the fake products and their parts.

The District Investigation Unit of North district solved the case.
