Baijal reviews measures to decongest traffic

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review progress of traffic decongestion measures on the pilot corridors. The specially like Aurobindo marg (Aurobindo marg to Andheria more), Mathura road (Neela Gumbad to Badarpur flyover), Savitri flyover (Chirag Delhi crossing to Savitri flyover), and Dhaula Kuan, (Dhaula Kuan Flyover to GGR flyover, Sanjay T-point).
It was informed to the L-G that Aurbindo marg corridor is one of the most important corridors which connect New Delhi and South Delhi to Gurugram.
Further, it was informed that to improve the traffic flow at Aurobindo Marg, certain measures like re-aligning of existing car parking facility and creating bus lane at INA have been approved and the construction work will start soon.
In meeting ,it was informed to L-G about the Mathura Road corridor witnesses heavy pedestrian as well as vehicular movement at all times as many industrial areas and cluster colonies are situated on both sides of Mathura road. He was informed about the progress and redevelopment plan of Amir Khusro Park. About the refurbishment of subway at Dargah, it was informed that signage's/boards have been installed by Traffic Police. Further, the concerned subway has been cleaned and whitewashed. Electricity too has been restored and the general public has started using the subway.
The concerned PWD officer informed that this important stretch of Outer Ring Corridor connects South Delhi to airport. It has heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic movement near Savitri cinema.
Regarding removal of encroachment and repair of slip road, it was informed that the slip road has been carpeted by PWD and is operational. L-G was informed that this is one of the most important corridors which connects South Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, New Delhi, Terminal-1 and Terminal-3 airport and Delhi-Gurgaon (NH-8) road.
