Auto drivers in Delhi betrayed by CM: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi: BJP's Chandni Chowk candidate Harsh Vardhan on Thursday issued a statement detailing his meeting with members of the Auto Taxi Drivers' Union in Delhi. He claimed that auto drivers in the Capital have been betrayed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Vardhan said that he met with Rajendra Soni, president of the union, who said that Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party had exploited one lakh auto taxi drivers for political mileage in the 2015 elections.

Soni claimed that AAP's promise of building 5,000 fitness centres for auto taxi drivers still hangs in the balance, with no progress on the plan. Moreover, Soni added that auto taxi drivers still face continuous harassment from the Delhi Police. The auto taxi drivers' delegation also said that family members of all these auto drivers are also affected by these problems and that they felt cheated by the Delhi government, Vardhan said.

Vardhan also said that the delegation was pleased with his work to improve their life and working conditions. He spoke of waiting rooms that he built for auto drivers at three of Delhi's major railway stations.

Union Minister added that auto taxi drivers in the Capital have recognised the true intentions of opposition parties and that they will respond to the betrayal by voting for BJP in the May 12 polls.
