Artificial braid on van helped cops nab robber

NEW DELHI: A robber has been arrested by Delhi Police who specifically targeted senior citizens by offering them lifts in his vehicle and robbed them midway using a country-made pistol.

The accused has been identified as Pankaj Chaddha a resident of Aman Vihar. All the items that is a diamond ring, cash Rs.10,000 robbed by him in the morning of 27th June, 2019 from the Punjabi Bagh area, one loaded country-made pistol and the vehicle used in the commission of offence have been recovered from his possession.

In the morning of June 27, a PCR call was received at Punjabi Bagh that the victim boarded a Van from Peeragarhi and in front of Mahraja Agrasen Hospital, the driver of the van has robbed his diamond ring and cash amounting to Rs.10,000 at gunpoint.

The victim told that the driver was alone and he was wearing red colour T-Shirt and short pant.

On receiving the call, a police team reached at the spot where complainant Ram Lal a resident of Jhandewalan Road, Nabi Karim, Delhi met and alleged that he boarded one Eeco car in the morning at about 6.40 am for going to Karol Bagh. When the car reached in front of Agarsen Hospital, the driver of the van showed him a pistol and robbed his diamond ring and cash.

Complainant further told that number plate of the car was covered with decorative hanging material artificial braid due to which he could not read the number of the vehicle.

After conducting a detailed investigation and checking the details of all the shortlisted Eeco cars, the bearing number of the car was zeroed in.

Owner of the vehicle Bimla a resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi was questioned about the vehicle, who informed the police that the car is being used by his son-in-law Pankaj Chadha , Delhi. He was arrested from his house.
