Arrested thieves used to live in air-conditioned room

New Delhi: The investigation carried out by the Delhi Metro Police after the arrest of eight thieves involved in theft and cheating cases in Delhi Metro, railways and bus terminus revealed that they were living in air-conditioned flat and had created a fake environment.
Police claimed that all the accused were loyal to their arrested gang leader in every crime, they used to only take only 40 per cent of the money and rest 60 per cent they used to leave for the gang leader. According to police, the accused who were nabbed outside Akshardham Metro Station and Nehru Place Metro Station respectively in September were living in a Lakshmi Nagar area where they had put a board in named Azad Bag when the police team reached the place they came to know that the place was an air-condition room. The investigation moved further and the cops came to know that the accused used to pose themselves as the salespersons and in the morning around 6 AM they used to leave the house wearing nice clothes so that no one can suspect them.
"After leaving the house, the accused used to disperse and target different Metro stations like Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Nehru Place. Some of the accused also went to New Delhi Railway station for committing a crime.
Police sources told Millennium Post that the gang leader named Azad was recently arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport . Before his arrest, the gang leader used to take care of his associates by providing them air-conditioned room and other necessary things even sometimes legal help. After the arrest, the gang members continued their loyalty by taking 40 percent of the money which they got from committing the crime the rest they left for their boss.
Police claimed that the accused were involved in more than 100 cases which includes theft and cheating. "A proper register was also maintained about their money which was in lakh which they got from committing the crime," said a police official.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Pankaj Singh stated that they are working in two teams, one team commits mobile theft in Delhi Metro and the other team commits cheating at Railway Stations. "The accused show the victim a bundle of decoy currency notes having original notes on above and lower of the bundle. One of the members of the gang made familiar with the victim and the other one came and shows fake currency notes and ask them for railway tickets. Then he says that he doesn't have money for buying railway tickets and the bundle was stolen from where he works. Then they allure the victim and take money from him in place of the bundle," Singh said.
