Armyman and friend attacked with axe, iron rods; one dies

Gurugram: An Army jawan, who was on vacation, and his friend were attacked by five men armed with an axe and iron rods in Pataudi on the outskirts of Gurugram. While the Armyman Nitin (21) escaped with injuries, his friend died on the spot. The inter-family rivalry could be the reason behind the murder attempt.

According to the police, Nitin, a resident of Daultabad village was at home for vacation. He planned to take his friend out for dinner on Saturday. When they were reaching Telipur village, one Amarjeet, along with his father Umrao and three others, stopped their car and attacked it with iron rods. Fearing for their lives, Nitin and Jagbir tried to flee. Amardeep caught hold of Nitin and attacked him with an axe, while the others nabbed Jagbir. "I somehow managed to flee and hid in a spot where they couldn't find me. I then made a PCR call and informed them that my friend was still in the attackers' custody. After a while, when I reached the government hospital in Pataudi, I found Jagbir's body kept on a stretcher," Nitin told the police.

Cops received information from the police control room about an attack on a car in Telipur village. "A team from Pataudi police station rushed to the spot and found a person lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He was later identified as Jagbir," an officer said.

Following Nitin's statement, an FIR was registered against Amarjeet, Umrao, Manoj, Arvind and another person under sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 427 (mischief) of the IPC at Pataudi police
