Arms supplier held from Dwarka

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday said that they have arrested a 26-year-old man near Nursery Plantation opposite Vardhman Mall in Sector-19, Dwarka for supplying illegal fire arms to different gangs in Delhi and Haryana.

The investigating agency recovered four sophisticated pistols and one country-made pistol along with two live rounds from his possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the accused, identified as Sumit Kharab, was earlier arrested in 2014 in Haryana where he came in contact with several gangs which used to operate in Haryana and Delhi.

"He quickly assessed the need of illegal fire arms and profit behind it. He then engaged himself in the trade of illegal weapons," said DCP Dwarka .

Police further said in 2017, he was arrested for possessing a fire arm in the jurisdiction of Dwarka Sec-23 police station and was sent to Tihar Jail.

There, he came into the contact of one inmate Aarush of Khurja, UP who was undergoing judicial custody for the offence of possessing illegal fire arm.

The duo planned to procure illegal fire arms to be sold in Delhi and adjoining areas.
