Ardee group of companies acquired govt land using forged documents

Gurugram: There have been various scenarios where builders have encroached upon or acquired prime real estate in Gururgam. In fact, they have made huge money as these properties have appreciated with burgeoning real estate market in Gurugram over the years. The latest set of allegations have been levelled against a prominent Ardee group of companies, a prominent real estate company.

It has been claimed that the company obtained licences for land measuring to 209 acres from Department of Town and Country Planning of the Haryana government using forged documents. The land acquired for the purpose of setting up a residential and commercial colony way back in 1995 and carried on in the subsequent years of 1997 and 1998. Moreover, it has also been highlighted that in this large land holding over 17 acres belong to Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and over 42 acres do not have clear titles.

Today these areas are considered as one of the most valuable real estate properties in the city as well as in the country. This can be gauged from the fact that just from the 17 acres of the public land, it is estimated that a loss of Rs 605 crore has been caused to the government exchequer.

It has further been alleged that the public agencies were aware of the wrongful means by which the land was acquired way back in 2011. Yet, it did not initiate any legal actions against the builder. Moreover, on May 7, 2012, the licence was renewed and the issue of exchange of land with HSVP was kept pending.

The matter again has come to limelight after the tehsildar of Wazirabad on September 21, 2018, submitted a report to the director of DTCP claiming that the builder had encroached upon prime areas of government land. Taking action on the report, the DTCP again issued notices to cancel licences to the builder on December 6, 2018.

The latest situation is just one among many examples with the nexus between the public officials and builders have been highlighted. In the past also, various raids conducted against HSVP highlighted that how certain officials were providing occupation certificate to the builders who were building the illegal colonies.

Ironically, the challenge of illegal colonies continues till date in the city. Incidents of collusion by the public officials with the builders and allowing them to change their floor to area ratio (FAR) have also come to fore.
