Noida: The Noida Authority, on Friday, carried out an intensified anti-encroachment drive in the city to remove illegal structures, hoardings and parked vehicles along the roadside, said officials.

As per Noida authority officials, the anti-encroachment drive was carried out in sectors 18, 150 and work circles 1,7 and 9. During the drive, the illegal structures were demolished by the JCB and several goods were also seized from the street vendors who had occupied footpaths and roadsides.

"Friday's drive was a part of an ongoing campaign to remove illegal structures along city roads that lead to traffic congestion and other related problems. The drive was supported by local police and the authority teams removed illegal structures, hoardings and vehicles parked along the road side," a senior Noida Authority official said. The authority teams also made the general public, especially vendors and shopkeepers aware about the anti-encroachment laws. The authority has also penalised Rs 10,000 each on the two food vans and Rs 50,000 on Sandeep Paper Mills for storing its raw materials along the road.

Apart from the anti-encroachment drive, Noida authority's CEO Ritu Maheshwari, on Friday, also conducted an inspection of work Circle-6 in sector-72, 115, 117, 119 and Bisrakh road and lashed out at the officials after she found sign boards missing from the under-construction as well as vacant lands.

The CEO has directed officials to place sign boards on all the authority's land and get them fenced so that they are not illegally occupied by the encroachers. She also expressed anger on the pending infrastructural projects in the city and made it clear that in future the authority first complete the land acquisition before beginning with any infrastructure work.

Meanwhile, the CEO has also directed the officials of all the work circles around the city to identify the unsafe buildings and carry out a demolition drive against them. CEO has made it clear that if any casualty is reported due to these unsafe structures, FIR will be registered against the concerned officer of that work Circle and strict actions will be taken.
