Amrapali residents protest at Noida Sec 76

Residents of Amrapali Silicon City in Sector 76 Noida staged a protest on Sunday over the lack of basic amenities in their residential society.
Around 50 residents of the society were present at the protest, which continued for over three hours. Later, police were called and a meeting was held with representatives from the builder's group and the issues were discussed.
Residents were seen complaining that the builder has neglecting them, despite the fact that the residents have paid the maintenance charges in advance. They continue to face hurdles in their day to day life and said that even after having got the possession of their flat, construction work is going on in a couple of towers which has been troubling them.
"Even after incomplete work and lack of basic amenities in the society, we urged the residents to pay Rs 1 per square feet as maintenance, in order to cope up with the builder. We demanded the builder to open a joint account, in which the money for maintenance will be deposited and demanded two persons from among the residents to be appointed as the signatory authority in the account. The move was aimed to bring transparency and enable the residents to monitor where the money will be spent," said Kaushal Kishor, one of the residents of the society.
"The builder first agreed to our conditions, but later, on Saturday evening, he refused to open any such account and withdrew all the facilities, such as cleaning, lifts and lights of the towers. Following this, we staged a protest against the builder," added Kishor.
