Alert journalist foils woman's abduction bid

New Delhi: On Independence Day eve when the city has maximum security cover and policemen could be seen on high alert, two men tried to kidnap a girl near Khanpur red light in south Delhi at around 9:30 pm on Monday.
However, an alert TV journalist who stopped at the red light saw the incident and challenged the miscreants. The two men on a bike dragged the girl to some distance. Seeing this, the journalist Shankar Anand followed them on his bike.
The bike borne men after seeing they were being chased, set the girl free and sped away.
"The girl was shouting for help. I tried to chase them but couldn't . The visibility was poor and I could not even note down the registration number. I am relieved that they fled leaving the girl behind," the journalist said.
The matter was later brought into the notice of senior police officials.
"We are looking into the matter and trying to contact the girl," a senior police officer said.
The cops are now trying to identify the bike borne men.
