Ahead of R-Day, police personnel get rooftop training

New Delhi: It was Sunday night, October 1 last year, a gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, leaving more than 50 people dead and over 500 injured.
The accused had used a high rise building to commit the ghastly incident. Now, taking a note of the situation Delhi Police too has started their security arrangements for upcoming Republic Day as they have given police personnel rooftop training.
Highly placed police sources told Millennium Post that after analysing the incident of the Las Vegas, US, Delhi police personnel are now being given training after which they will be ultimately deployed at the high rise buildings and they will keep a tab on the activity of other buildings nearby.
Police will also collect details of the families who live in different high rise buildings in Delhi. Police have also started to scan the guest houses to check if any outsider has arrived in the Capital.
The sources further said not only buildings but also the trees have been counted and checked for a purpose of security reason. "The reason behind the checking of trees is that we want to make sure no one hides there," said a senior police official.
The officer said in Central Delhi area the preparation has been started from November in order to make full proof security arrangements. Several meetings with senior police official and SHOs of the concerned area have also been conducted. Police have also been checking the hotels and other guest houses to know any new faces have arrived in the Capital.
Cops will also keep a tab on electrical wirings, gutters, shops, toilets in areas near the Republic Day ground. Police said they have also given special training to police personnel for frisking.
