Ahead of LS polls, political parties likely to raise issue of unfinished Dwarka e-way

Gururgam: Timely completion of Dwarka expressway has become a major point for all political parties. The strike called by the residents of the township saw people of the likes of Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj India Abhiyan also coming and lending his support. The fast was called after the Gurugram member of parliament assured the protestors that the road of Dwarka Expressway will be completed soon.

"Unfortunatly, the citizens have to run campaigns and demonstrations for something which should have actually happened in routine course. Met the protestors yesterday in support of their demand to immediately complete the Dwarka Expressway and remove Kherki Dhaula toll in Gurugram," said Yogendra Yadav.

For lakhs of Gurugrammers who either work in Manesar or reside in new Gurugram travelling through Kherki Dhaula has been nothing sort of misery. Taking cognisance of the complaint the Haryana government have decided to move the toll. However even after one year of the formal announcement the plan has hit a roadblock due to various challenges.

Many however admit that since Kherki toll is a major revenue generator there is a delay. What has led to even more flaring of tempers is the decision to implement a steep increase in toll rates.

Now from one way a passenger vehicle that used to pay Rs 60 will have to pay Rs 65 and heavy commercial vehicles that used to pay an amount of Rs 185 will have to pay a one-way toll of Rs 190.

No one can relate more to the challenges in the growth and expansion of Gurugram than 90,000 homebuyers of Dwarka Expressway.
