After release, dentist Talwars to visit Dasna inmates every 15 days
NOIDA: The dentist couple of Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, who had been imprisoned in 2013 for the alleged murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, are set to step out of jail on Monday.
Meanwhile, after their release, the couple will visit the Dasna Jail every 15 days to attend to the inmates facing dental problems.
Officials at the jail said the Talwars had been serving at the dental clinic of the jail hospital for a while and were looking after inmates facing dental issues.
"The couple has helped revive the earlier non-functional dental department at the prison hospital. We are concerned over the fate of the dental department after their release, but we see hopes as they have promised us to visit the prison hospital every 12 days to serve the inmate patients," said a doctor at the hospital jail.
A close relative of theirs has returned from Allahabad High Court after receiving the certified copy of the court's judgment, acquitting them of the double murder, and will fulfil the needful formalities at the district court on Monday morning.
The high court had, on Thursday, acquitted the Talwars in the case, saying neither the circumstances nor the evidence was enough to hold them guilty.
Their lawyers in Allahabad said that the release was delayed due to holiday and court procedure.
"It takes a day's time for a person to step out of the jail following the court's orders. In some cases, the bench can also issue orders to send the judgment copy through fax to the court. But we were unable to file an appeal to send the judgment through fax due to unavailability of bench. Even that won't make any difference as Saturday was also a holiday," said Rajrishi Gupta, one of the Talwars' counsels.
Dasna jail officials said the release would be possible once the certified copy was received after due procedure.
