After DCW notice, 148 toilets become functional

New Delhi: After the notice issued by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) to Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), 148 toilets have been made functional in various slum areas.
In its notice to DUSIB, the Delhi Commission for Women demanded for a complete list of toilet complexes which were closed despite being ready for use. Immediately after DCW's notice, DUSIB issued tenders to operationalise 148 toilets..
DUSIB reported that work at various toilet complexes have begun such as 23 seater complex at JJ Basti C Block Bhim Basti Junapur, 20 seater complex at JJ Basti Kharak Rivara Satbari Mehrauli.
DCW Chairperson Swati JaiHind said that during her visit to Chandanhulla village in Chhatarpur it was found that the newly constructed toilet complexes were closed for usage. A notice to DUSIB was issued to furnish detailed report on the reasons behind the toilet complexes being closed despite being ready for usage.
