Actions taken against land and sand mafia

Gautam Buddh Nagar: In a major crack down on land and sand mining mafiyas, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has invoked NSA against a sand mining mafia and also imposed a fine of Rs 41 crores on a few land grabbers for illegally occupying a land in sector 22 area which was owned by Noida authority from past 37 years.

As per a senior administrative officer, the actions against seven persons were initiated after it was found that they have illegally grabbed a land for past 37 years and have also constructed a market over there.

Reports suggest that the land, situated in Chora Raghunathpur in sector 22, was acquired by Noida authority in year 1982 but it was allegedly occupied by a few land

mafiyas.

However, the authority filed a case under PP act at Ghaziabad court and after the Gautam Buddh Nagar became a District, the case was transferred to city Magistrate court in Noida district.

Taking cognisance to the matter, the administration has issued notice to seven land mafiyas identified as, Vinod, Beva, Pradeep, Sunder, Jagmohan, Bobby and Basant.

"We have issued a fine of Rs 41, 86, 51, 280 on the land grabbers while an order to vacate the property within next fifteen days has also been issued. If these persons fail to vacate the property within this time, a fine of Rs 9, 38, 680 per month will be imposed on them. We will also initiate stringent actions against them and will used police force to forcibly vacate the land," said city magistrate Shailendra Mishra.

Meanwhile, the authority has also invoked NSA against sand mining mafia Bhupendra Momnathal for allegedly building a dam across Yamuna to stop the water flow and facilitate sand mining, causing serious environmental concerns.

Officials said that over 15 criminal cases against Bhupendra including a murder.
