AAP slams BJP-led UP govt over BHU violence

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday took on the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, saying that the lathi-charge on girl students in Banaras Hindu University exposes the "inhuman face of the Uttar Pradesh government."
Party leader Ashutosh said, "It is indeed unfortunate and shameful that the UP Police, instead of taking action on the complaints of harassment of girls, resorted to the ghastly act of lathi-charge inside the girls' hostels during the night violating all norms and laws."
"BHU girls were only demanding that action is taken against those who indulged in eve-teasing and harassment. But the University administration, instead of taking action on the girl's complaint, resorted to savagely lathi-charge them," he added.
To protest against the incident the, party's student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti organised a protest march at Delhi University's North Campus, in solidarity with students of BHU on Monday.
More than 100 students participated in the march and strongly condemned the police brutality perpetrated on the girl students in the BHU campus.
