AAP presents suggestions for amendments in DDA's MPD-2021

NEW DELHI: Nearly 38 MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party submitted suggestions to the proposed amendments in the Master Plan Delhi-2021 (MPD-2021) before officials of the DDA on Wednesday.
"We have presented a nine points suggestions to the DDA," said Somnath Bharti, AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar constituency, who is also a member of DDA.
"As soon as the plan is changed, the Centre and DDA should coordinate and focus on the implementation of the plans," said Bharti.
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) last Friday had approved changes to the Master Plan, in order to provide relief to the traders hit by the ongoing sealing drive.
However, officials of the Municipal Corporations of Delhi said that some of the proposed changes may pose hurdles in providing the desired relief to shop owners in shop-cum-residential complexes.
During the meeting last Friday, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, DDA had approved the proposal to give uniform floor area ratio (FAR) in shop-cum-residential plots on a par with residential plots, reduce the penalty on non-payment of conversion charges from 10 times to twice the amount, and allow commercial activities in the basement. However, the proposed changes are subject to availability of parking and statutory clearances, including fire, structural safety, building bylaws, etc.
