AAP leaders inspect mid-day meals in MCD school

NEW DELHI: Leaders of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday visited an Municipal Corporation school, after various complaints were received about the mid-day meal served there. The leaders also discussed the issues with parents and the students.

"The task of preparing food for children must be treated with a great sense of responsibility. We at AAP are very particular about the quality of food served to children and any irregularities in the preparation will be dealt with seriously," said AAP Lok Sabha in-charge for South Delhi Raghav Chadha.

He added that the Delhi government is not only concerned with the education of a child, but also with their wholesome growth and nutrition.

The AAP-led Delhi government has prioritised education and has brought in a number of qualitative reforms to ensure that kids are well looked after at government schools. Frequent inspections are conducted to ensure that high standards are being maintained in the school and to take corrective measures if there are any problems.

Chadha took a tour of the canteen, enquired about the quality of mid day meal from the children and ate lunch in the school himself.

He spent time talking to the kids who opened up to him about their experience in the school. Many children claimed that there was noted improvement in the food

The Delhi government had said during its 2017-18 budget presentation that the education sector continues to be the highest priority with the maximum expenditure of Rs 11,300 crore.

As per the plan, 24 new schools, five schools of excellence and 10,000 new classrooms were to be constructed in a year.
