AAP leader writes to Amit Shah over malpractices in MCD

Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi unit convener Dilip Pandey, in a letter written to Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah, here on Monday hit out at the three Municipal Corporation of Delhi for its alleged "corrupt" practices.

"The BJP-led MCD is a den of corruption, inefficiency and political opportunism. MCD has been involved in so many scams that even the intellectually bankrupt and corrupt Congress party would hide its face in shame," Pandey claimed in the letter.

"The three MCDs, on an average, could not even spend 40 percent of the total allocated budget in 2013 for the developmental works they have been promising.

"The BJP-led MCD is also responsible for the ghost pensioners' scam, which amounts to roughly Rs 2,000 crore. Even the Central Information Commission (CIC) slammed the three MCDs for spending up to Rs 244 crore per annum in pensions, of which there were no records," the letter noted.

"Under your (Amit Shah) watch, Delhi has become a huge dustbin; narrow roads, rapid concretisation, unauthorised colonies, jhuggi jhopri (JJ) clusters, dogged sewer lines and garbage strewn everywhere," it added.

Pandey's letter also claimed that the MCD has become a hindrance even in the works of the AAP MLAs, as the projects sanctioned by the AAP MLAs are not completed by the MCD.
