AAP holds rally against EDMC tax hike proposal

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday organised a 'Chetawani rally' at the office of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) against the "anti-people tax hike and raising the ceiling by the BJP-led Corporation".
The protest was attended by AAP MLAs Anil Bajpai, Nitin Tyagi, Manoj Kumar and Haji Ishraq, in addition to all the party's councillors, all Aldermen and the Leader of Opposition of EDMC Abdul Rehman.
Addressing the protesters, Gandhi Nagar MLA Anil Bajpai said, "The way the BJP-led EDMC has proposed to hike the taxes and introduced new taxes is totally anti-people, which will break the back of the common residents of Delhi. AAP is against any such additional financial burden on the people of Delhi and demands a rollback of the hiked and new taxes."
Abdul Rehman said, "The ceiling being raised by the East DMC is against people and businessmen. A reign of fear has been unleashed and under this fear BJP leaders are minting money from businessmen and people. AAP demands that the ceiling must be stopped right now. If the ceiling is not stopped, AAP will further intensify the protests against it".
