'AAP govt has worked for middle class too'
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday highlighted the work done by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to assert that the party is not pro-poor alone. "Some people say AAP works only for the poor, what has it done for the middle class?" CM Kejriwal asked in a tweet before proceeding to underline the work done by his government in education and power.
He said that there is a 24-hour power supply in Delhi and cheapest in India. "Private schools are not allowed to increase the fee, and those who increased were forced to refund. Now there is 24-hour power supply in Delhi, cheapest power in India, water reaches through pipelines in poor and middle-class areas," CM Kejriwal tweeted.
Arvind Kejriwal, who came to power in 2015 with a landslide election victory, said he was "glad that both poor as well as middle-class people are benefiting from the hard and honest work of the Delhi government".
The national capital is slated to go for Assembly elections in early 2020.
In the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections, the AAP drew a blank in Delhi. The BJP won all seven LS seats.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA, Manjinder S Sirsa conducted a poll on Twitter over what people felt about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but the move backfired, when most of the participants voted in favour of the AAP supremo.
