AAP accuses Delhi Police of 'dadagiri', BJP hits back

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the Delhi Police of acting like a bully by entering Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence 'illegally' and being a mere "puppet" in the hands of the central government.
Hitting back at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who accused the BJP-led central Government of trying to destabilise his government, the BJP on Friday said that it was 'anarchist' Kejriwal who was responsible for a 'Constitutional crisis.'
The police team went inside the chief minister's residence only to "humiliate and insult him (Arvind Kejriwal)," AAP leader Ashutosh said. "Without Modi government's directive, the police could not have indulged in such dadagiri," AAP MP Sanjay Singh tweeted.
In a Press conference, the AAP also showed a two-and-half-minute clip where senior police officials are seen inside the residence of the chief minister, purportedly asking questions about the wall paint of the room.
The remarks came after a Delhi police team was sent to CM Kejriwal's residence to collect evidence related to the case of alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by the party MLAs. "These questions are ridiculous and preposterous," said BS Joon, AAP counsel. The Delhi Police, however, has claimed that their request seeking CCTV footage from the Chief Minister's residence in connection with the alleged assault case was not met, prompting them to dispatch a posse there to collect evidence.
Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta said that CM Kejriwal has embarked upon a new type of politics to blackmail the bureaucracy. "He is instigating his MLAs to assault officers. His sole design is to ensure that the officers dance to the tune of AAP leaders so that out of fear, they carry out orders according to their whims and fancies. The primary motive is to promote corruption. The officers which do not toe the line of AAP will be threatened and beaten," he said. Gupta expressed apprehension that AAP will further mount attacks and assaults on officers to present Robin Hood image of himself and AAP leaders. "CM is presenting the image as if he is the sole custodian of public standing against PM, LG, BJP etc," he stated.
The Delhi Pradesh Congress has also slammed the AAP government. Arvinder Singh, former DPCC president, said that Kejriwal government has failed to do development of Delhi in their 3 years' rule.
