60-year-old woman beaten to death by son-in-law
New Delhi: A 60-year-old woman was beaten to death with an iron rod in Vijay Vihar area of Rohini district area on Monday. Police identified the accused as her son-in-law who was thrashed by the public and later admitted to hospital.
According to police, they were alerted around on Monday about the incident. The police team reached the spot. The deceased identified as Ramkali was found dead near Park in Old Vijay Vihar Police Station, Sec-4 (Rohini).
"Public told that she was beaten up by her son-in-law identified as 44-year-old Rajesh, a resident of Vijay Vihar by an iron rod," police further added. The investigating agency added that in the brutal attack she sustained iron rod injury on her head and Rajesh was also caught and beaten up by the public on the spot, till he became unconscious.
"He was rushed to BSA hospital by PCR. He has been admitted in BSA in conscious condition," police said.
The further investigation revealed that accused Rajesh used to beat his wife Vimla often, on Monday night she came to her mother's house after Rajesh beat her.
At around 11 am on Monday Rajesh confronted his mother-in-law near her house when she was going to her work, argument heated up and he hit her with a rod lying on the ground nearby. The deceased worked as a housemaid. Police are probing the fact whether the argument was related to the accused's wife. Police have seized the rod which was seized. Rajesh and Vimla were married for 25 years.
