60-year-old gunned down by armed assailants in Gurugram

Gurugram: A murder that not only killed a person but in turn destroys a strong family structure in Gurugram. On Saturday, few unidentified men gunned down a 60-year-old shopkeeper Harpal Singh. The incident occured in Fazlipur that is located in the outskirts of the city.

The incident could have just turned out to be anther case of a brazen crime, however, what followed later made the crime even more less forgiving as in mourning of the untimely death of his younger brother, the elder brother Ratan Singh also passed away just a few hours later following a cardiac arrest.

However, the district police has not identified the accused yet. It has also not been ascertained that what was the real reason behind the crime.

According to police, this is another case of local goons in the area asking for the extortion, the threats of which may have been ignored by the victim. The family, however, denied that they were receiving any threats from any gangs. On Saturday, Harpal was shot dead after he was going to his house.

"We are trying to retrieve the CCTV images around the area to see what may have been the real reason of the murder. As per our investigation, there were three masked men who came in the bike, surrounded the victim and then shot him dead by firing multiple rounds of bullets at him," said an official from Gurugram police.

This is not the first time when traders have been targeted or even murdered in the outskirts of the city. A sharp rise in the number of attacks on the traders in the outskirts of Gurugram by dreaded gangsters has resulted in the business community protesting on the worsening law and order time and again.

The traders have been demanding that is a need for more police vigilance in the outskirts of the city like Sohna, Pataudi and Badshahpur where the rates of crime against the traders are rising rapidly.

Co-incedentally, this incident was preceded by another shooting incident where a once dreaded gangster named Jaidev was again gunned down in the middle of busy streets.

The CCTV images showed that three unidentified assailants from the rival gang pumped 10 bullets into his body.
