6-yr-old girl leads cops to man who assaulted her

On the eve of the festival of colours, a six-year-old was kidnapped and taken to a secluded spot where she was sexually assaulted in Govindpuri.

After several days of investigation, the accused was nabbed by the Delhi Police on Sunday.

However, the little one firmly remembered the vehicle in which she was kidnapped.

She informed the cops that she was taken into a Gramin Seva.

"The victim identified the vehicle as a Gramin Seva so all the Gramin Seva vehicles were checked and a massive exercise was undertaken to identify the scene of crime using landmarks given by the girl," said Romil Baaniya, DCP South East.

Based on the landmark information, the cops identified around seven to eight localities.

Also, they conducted a door to door search.

This continued for 15 days after which they scanned all factory workers in the area.

Even, the drivers of all Gramin Seva of the route were put under police scanner.

Following this, the suspect's poster was put up in the area.

Through local enquiry, the police came to know that the accused was a labourer at Paratha Point at Nehru Place and was last seen on Holi.
Both the beat staff and investigation teams gathered remarkable human intelligence after which raid was conducted.

Then, the accused identified as Mantram, a resident of Sidharth Nagar in Uttar Pradesh was apprehended.
