6-day old baby found near school, cops hunt for parents

A six-day-old baby was found lying near a sewer located next to a school in North West Delhi's Model Town area on Monday. The crying infant was spotted by a security guard who took her to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. The cops are tracing the whereabouts of her parents.

According to police, on Monday morning, a security guard spotted the baby lying next to the open sewer. The infant had been wailing as she was constantly being bitten by mosquitoes swarming next to the sewer.
"The guard took the girl and tried to look for her parents. Later, when he could not find them, he decided to take her to the nearest hospital," said a senior
police official.

The infant was admitted to BJRM hospital. She had sustained mosquito bites on her legs and the doctors immediately conducted a medical check up. Following the test, the doctors kept the little one under their care after which they contacted the cops.

"We had received a call from the doctors which is when we learned about the incident. The doctors have told us that she is fine and got some bite marks due to the mosquitoes. We had tried to ascertain the identity of her parents but so far we have been unsuccessful," added the official.

Based on their preliminary investigation, the cops claimed that the infant might have been abandoned by
her parents. Also, they will soon contact several hospitals to ascertain her parent's identify.
