5-day research methodology workshop begins at IP varsity

New Delhi: A five day research methodology workshop commenced at University School of Mass Communication (USMC) of IP University in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research for PhD students on Tuesday. Inaugurating the workshop, Professor Anup Singh Beniwal, Dean — USMC said, "In a globalised world, the role of research in an academic institution is significant for its sustainability and development, and it is imperative to have knowledge driven growth based on innovation. The quest of knowledge is the pre — requisite for research."

According to Convener of this workshop Dr Durgesh Tripathi, Assistant Professor — USMC, the workshop is designed to impart knowledge on Research Methodology in the context of qualitative and quantitative methods along with training in statistical packages across various fields of social sciences and communication studies.

Addressing the gathering, Professor David Hind, President of Asia Pacific Institute of Events Management, London gave a informative presentation on 'Event Journalism and Mass Communication'. Moreover, Dr Raziff Jamaluddin, faculty member of Department of Hotel Management and Tourism Science, Malaysia gave light on role of research in these fields.

Dr Ajay Gupta, Director, ICSSR lamented on the role of this organisation in the field of social science research in the country. Around three dozen scholars coming from various universities of the country are activelty participating in this workshop.
