400 ghats to be developed for Chhath Puja

NEW DELHI: Nearly 400 ghats will be developed ahead of Chhath Puja next month, announced the Delhi government on Thursday.
Of the 400 ghats, 50 will be developed as permanent ghats, while the remaining ghats will be temporary.
Reviewing preparations for the development of Chhath Puja ghats in a meeting convened at Delhi Secretariat, Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai directed the Revenue Department to arrange for tents, lighting and installation of CCTV cameras and security measures on all the ghats. The remaining work will be done by Department of Irrigation and Flood Control.
The meeting was attended by the concerned MLAs, councillors, Revenue Secretary and senior officers of Flood Control department.
During the meeting, Assembly-wise list of Chhath ghats were presented. However, some MLAs and councillors proposed additional ghats to be included in the list and it was directed by Rai that all public representatives will submit their list to Irrigation and flood Control department by Friday.
A statement by the government said that Rai informed all the attendees that this year Chhath Puja will be celebrated across Delhi in a grand manner and the city administration will take all necessary steps to make this event "successful".
