38th India Int'l Trade Fair inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry C R Chaudhary on Wednesday inaugurated the 38th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The minister said that the government has been making all possible efforts to improve the 'Ease of Doing Business' ranking.

He hoped that the next edition of the IITF would achieve new heights in terms of participation from India and abroad after completion of ITPO's ambitious project of redevelopment of Pragati Maidan into an iconic world-class International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), next year.

The Union Minister of State for Culture and Environment Mahesh Sharma complimented ITPO for continuing the legacy of IITF.

The function was attended by Sanjay Seth, Chairman, Khadi Gramodyog Board, Govt of Jharkhand, Mohammad Khairullah Azad, Charge d'affaires, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Partner Country), Tirath Rakesh Poudel, Economic Councellor, Charge d'affaires, Embassy of Nepal (Focus Country), L C Goyal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, ITPO and Deepak Kumar, Executive Director, ITPO.

Speaking on the occasion, L C Goyal, CMD, ITPO, said that despite all the challenges pertaining to the ongoing redevelopment of Pragati Maidan, the fair has been organised at the 22 per cent of the total space available inside the exhibition complex, retaining the exact format of the event.

The decision was taken to hold the IITF which is considered as a flagship event of ITPO and it has a fixed place in the national and global calendar.
