300 kgs of cannabis seized, 4 arrested

NEW DELHI: A total of 300 kilograms approximately cannabis has been seized by Delhi Police Crime branch and Dwarka police in the capital.

Two hundred and eighty kilograms have been seized by Crime branch with the arrest of two while approximately 20 kilograms have been seized by Dwarka police with the arrest of two.

During sustained interrogation, the accused arrested by the crime branch Sonelal, disclosed that he is working as a truck driver. While working on trucks, he fell in bad company and started consuming Ganja. He, then, came in contact with some suppliers of Ganja and started working for them. He started supplying Ganja in Delhi & NCR by the truck and by hiding it under the guise of other goods.

So far, he had supplied more than 1,000 kgs. of ganja in Delhi & NCR, received from Berhampur, Odisha. The second accused Raju worked as a cleaner on the trucks.

"During the search of the truck, the team recovered 280 Kgs of Ganja, hidden in seven plastic drums, each containing 40 kgs. hidden under the paddy," said DCP Crime branch Ram Gopal Naik.

In the second case, the Anti-Narcotics Squad Dwarka District have arrested two members of a gang dealing in Cannabis (Gaanja) from Nangli Vihar Extension of Ranhola area. They have been identified as Sonu and Suresh, both residents of Delhi.

"The contraband was stuffed in two white plastic sacks, one kept on the footrest of the scooty and the other held by the pillion rider. On being flagged down to stop, the rider tried to dodge the sleuths and flee but the Scooty was stopped by the alert cop who pulled in the barricade thereby trapping the Scooty," said DCP Anto Alphonse, DCP Dwarka.
