3-year-old girl dies as e-rickshaw overturns

NEW DELHI: A three-year-old girl identified as Iqra died in a road accident on Saturday as she came out of the colony on the road where an e-rickshaw overturned trying to avoid running over her in Dwarka. Police said that the e-rickshaw was in high speed and failed to timely apply brakes to avert the mishap. As the rickshaw overturned the girl was trapped inside it which caused her severe injuries.

The accident took place in front of Adarsh Apartment, Dwarka at around 3 pm.

The police received a call from the hospital that a girl named Iqra has succumbed to her injuries after she met with an accident. Immediately a team of Dwarka North police station reached the hospital. The girl's family are residing in Adarsh Apartment. It is said that the girl received severe injuries due to the impact of the rickshaw overturn. Though the locals immediately rushed the girl to the hospital but she could not survive.

The police impounded the vehicle and arrested the accused e-rickshaw driver Ankit (33), a resident of Bharat Vihar after a case of fatal accident was registered.
