3 minors held for bike thefts
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police, on Tuesday, have arrested three minor boys in connection to a series of bike thefts at various areas of Ghaziabad and nearby districts. Cops said that the minor children aged between 15 to 17 years.
According to police, the boys were doing theft only because they wanted to have fun and make some extra pocket money.
"During routine vehicular checking, police noticed a black pulsar motorcycle which was being driven by a minor boy and signalled him to stop. While checking the papers with the vehicle, police found that the registration number was fake and the minor boy was held for questioning. Upon interrogating, he told police that he along with his two other friends has stolen the vehicle from Indirapuram area in Ghaziabad. Police began tracing the other two boys and they were also held," said Sandeep Kumar Singh, Station House Officer of Indirapuram police station.
The officer further said that the trio had been stealing motorcycles from past two years and confessed to have stolen nearly 50 bikes during this period.
"During questioning, it came to light that the trio had been stealing vehicles that were parked on the roadside from Ghaziabad, Noida and Delhi. The boys told police that they wanted to ride different bikes so they committed the crime. They used the bikes for racing and earn rewards. Also they loved clicking pictures with these bikes and brag in front of their friends. Police have recovered six vehicles, collectively worth Rs 1 lakh, from their possession," added Singh. Police said that one of the boys is a student of class 10th at a private school in Ghaziabad.
