3 men held for extortion bid

NEW DELHI: Inspired by TV serial Crime Patrol, three young men tried to make extortion calls threatening a local businessman in Jaitpur area of South East Delhi. Delhi Police has busted the gang of extortionists and arrested 3 persons identified as Vijendra Singh, 22 years, Ritik Srivastava, 19 years and Amit Kumar Yadav, 23 years for making ransom call to a businessman and demanding ransom money of Rs 30 lakhs.

On January 30, the complainant reported at Jaitpur Police station and alleged that on that day around 11 am, he was going for some work. When he reached near Palla, Faridabad, 02 persons on motorcycle broke the window glass of his car and fled from the spot. Before, complainant could have understood anything, within 10 minutes he received a phone call from an unknown number and the caller demanded ransom of Rs 30 lakhs. Caller further threatened to kill the son of the complainant, if money was not paid. After the case was filed, Delhi Police arrested the three accused.
