3 killed as truck hits car while taking wrong turn; 3 die in another mishap

Another three who were riding a bike were found dead in Nihal Vihar in Outer Delhi

New Delhi: In two separate accidents in Delhi reported from Okhla and Nihal Vihar, 6 people were killed and one severely injured. While three died in a truck-car crash in Okhla, another three who were riding a bike were found dead by a police ERV from Nihal Vihar in Outer Delhi.

When Approva Sarkar, a resident of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, drove his brother in-laws Sushankar Rai and Siddhartha Rai both from Madhya Pradesh, little did he know that a wrong turn by a heavy truck on Okhla road would mean the end of their lives. All three of them were killed and one of their friend identified as Roopam Mandal, a Delhi resident, was critically injured in the accident. He is still battling for his life in the ICU.

The accident happened at around 11 pm on Maa Anand Mai Marg near Indira Kalyan Vihar Okhla Phase -I between a loaded truck with 14 tyres and a Maruti Wagon-R. This Maruti Wagon-R belonged to Apoorva Sarkar, who was a driver with Uber. According to police, the truck was coming from M B Road side and its driver negligently turned towards Okhla Phase-I and during this hit a Wagon R coming from Crown Plaza side towards ESI Hospital. The car was crushed by the truck and the four persons sitting in the car were badly injured. They were taken to different hospitals by PCR and through Private vehicles.

Three of them later succumbed to their injuries.

Relatives of Apporva from Madhya Pradesh, both brothers Sushankar Rai and Siddhartha Rai, both residents of Indira Kalyan Vihar in MP just paid a visit to their brother-in-law Apporva who drove Uber cab ( Wagaon-R ) in Delhi.

The impact of the accident was so severe that the front part of the car was mangled beyond recognition.

DCP, South East, Chinmoy Biswal said "We have arrested the truck driver who has been identified as Ram Rattan, a resident of Mainpuri UP. An FIR in this regard has been filed at Okhla Industrial area under section 279/304-A IPC. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and the families of the victims have been informed."

In another accident reported from Nihal Vihar in Outer Delhi at about 8 am on Monday, the police ERV duty staff noticed an accident at a drain near sewage plant Nihal Vihar where three persons were lying dead between the wall of drain and the pavement. One motorcycle was also lying near their bodies. A case under section 279/304-A IPC at Nihal Vihar has been registered. The deceased have been identified as Hari, a resident of Chanden Vihar Nihal Vihar; Kapil, a resident of Ambika Enclave aged 15 years and Vishaludin, a resident of Nihal Vihar aged 20 years.
