2nd road rage in 24 hrs, man shot dead in Geeta Colony

New Delhi: Within 24 hours after a youth was shot dead by car-borne armed assailants in a petty road rage incident in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar, another similar incident happened on Monday night, where a-34-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by armed assailants riding on Scooty after victim's car hit the Scooty at near Shahdara's Geeta Colony flyover.

The man was shot in the thigh but he bled to death with the bullet injury and was declared brought dead by the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Sushil Chauhan (35), a resident of Brahampuri in New Usmanpur in Shahdara district. He is said to be having a small factory of cloth stitching and cutting. The deceased has been survived by a daughter and his wife.

Chauhan was returning home with his friends after having dinner at a restaurant in Geeta Colony. When they reached near Geeta Colony flyover, their car collided with a scooter while taking a turn, a senior police officer said. An argument erupted between them after which the scooter rider opened fire at Chauhan and fled from the spot. Chauhan sustained a bullet injury in his thigh.

Sushil was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital by his friends where he was declared brought dead by the doctor. He died due to the excessive bleeding, the officer said. There were six persons in the car including three women.

"As of now, it is a suspected to be a matter of road rage and no personal enmity angle was found, Meghna Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shahdara said. It is said that the victim along with his friends including three women had gone to have dinner at a restaurant in Krishna Nagar on Monday night.

A case has been registered under Arms Act and IPC section 302 and the matter is being probed. Police said no CCTV footage was found from near the spot. However, other occupants of the car did not sustain any injury. The statement of the eyewitnesses have been taken.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of police (Shahdara) Ved Prakash Surya said the police teams have been formed to identify the accused involved in the murder.

The family members demanded a fair probe into the murder. Late Sunday night, a 21-year-old man identified as Yogesh was also shot dead by two unidentified armed assailants after his bike brushed off the assailant's i20 car outside a shop in east Delhi's Acharya Niketan area.

The cops are also investigating the case and are looking for the accused who sped off after firing.
