26 pistols hidden under vegetable ghee seized

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police seized 26 sophisticated .32 bore pistols hidden under two plastic cans of vegetable Ghee. Police have arrested two arms traffickers from Ghazipur area. Police identified the accused as Jitender (25) and Raj Bahadur (30).

During the search of their vehicle, two plastic cans of Vanaspati Ghee were recovered. On careful examination of the cans, under a thick layer of Vanaspati Ghee, a total of 26 pistols of .32 bore calibre, with extra magazines wrapped with polythenes and tied with cotton strings were recovered. "The accused used to receive pistols of .32 bore calibres at a rate of Rs. 8-12 thousand per piece depending upon the quality of the weapon and used to sell it in NCR at Rs. 25-30 thousand per piece," police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said that the accused Jitender came in contact with one Raju, an arms trafficker resident of the same village. Raju helped him financially and lured him to join him in receiving a delivery of weapons. After the safe delivery, Raju paid him a handsome amount. He found this job quite profitable so he started working on his own by procuring weapons.
