25 cases of snatching and robbery solved with arrest of 2 snatchers

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police has arrested notorious snatchers cum robbers identified as Bharat alias Nanu aged 26 years and Kunal alias Kapil, both residents of Delhi, and one receiver of stolen property Jitender Kumar aged 31 years.

Three snatched stolen chains and cash have been recovered and total 25 cases of chain snatching of different police stations of north west District, Delhi have been worked out.

The team of north west Delhi Police intercepted one Black Pulsar on November 27 with two persons without a number plate. An ASI intercepted bike and apprehended the motorcycle rider with the help of a constable.

On further search, cash Rs 2,700 was recovered from them. Both Bharat and Kumal were overpowered and arrested.

The accused disclosed that they were fond of a lavish lifestyle and riding motorcycles. To fulfil their needs, they started committing crime at an early age.

They used to steal two-wheelers and commits robberies and snatching of gold chains, mobile phones, valuables.

"After committing multiple crimes of snatching, they used to abandon the offending vehicle at selected places and again started snatchings on other stolen vehicles.

"They used to sell the stolen, snatched or robbed valuables to different persons in different localities but of the last case, they have sold the snatched chain to one Jitender Kumar, who is a goldsmith. While, Jitender was also involved in snatching cases at his past," Aslam Khan, DCP North West said.

Accused Jitender disclosed that he was also involved in snatching and theft previously but when he opened a jewellery shop in Ganga Vihar Gokulpuri since last few months and his income was not sufficient to meet his needs, he decided to earn easy money and contacted his previous accomplice Bharat, who was indulged in snatching.
