240 cartons of liquor seized ahead of polls
NEW DELHI: Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, 240 cartons of illicit liquor has been seized by Delhi police crime branch from Azadpur area.
Two accused Srikant and Toshin were arrested after Crime Branch team laid a trap near Azad Hind Gram, near Tikri Kalan Metro Station and the accused persons were apprehended and two tempos which were being used to supply this recovered illicit liquor have also been recovered and a total of 240 cartons (150+90) of Illicit Liquor with Haryana Excise stripe recovered in those two tempos found from their possession.
On interrogation, accused persons Srikant and Toshin disclosed that this liquor belongs to Dalbir Maan , a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana and was collected from his Godown, which was to be delivered one lady identified as Bhabhi of Jhuggi Badola Village, Azadpur, Delhi.
They further disclosed that this recovered liquor was to be distributed in Parliament elections.
"It was frequently emerging now days that due to parliament elections, several gangs are active in supply of illicit liquor in Delhi from Haryana. They are using innovative modus-operandi by using Tempos for supply of illicit liquor, so that no one can raise suspicion on them," said Joy Tirkey, DCP Crime branch.
