24-year-old woman, 21-year-old lover held for 52-year-old husband's murder

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old woman along with her 21-year-old paramour have been arrested in connection with the contract killing of her 52-year-old husband Suresh Kumar in the servant quarters of South Avenue. The Police said that since the wife developed intimacy with the accused Shivam, a Meerut resident, she conspired to kill her husband as she was not having a cordial Conjugal relationship with him. A juvenile has also been apprehended by the Delhi Police.

The murder came to light on June 7, when Suresh was found with deep cut on his throat at his residence, the servant quarters of South Avenue. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.

A team was immediately formed under the supervision of SHO South Avenue Suhaib Farooqui to identify and arrest the murderer. Soon police found the behaviour of the wife Anju suspicious. She was out on a walk with the children at the time of murder while her husband slept at home.

One of the informers

told the investigators that the wife was often seen talking on the phone and she visited family and friends in Meerut regularly.

Shivam on the basis of call records of Anju was picked up from a relatives house in Burari along with his minor brother. He upon questioning confessed to their involvement and the juvenile was apprehended while Shivam and Anju (wife of the deceased) were arrested for the murder of Suresh.

After that Shivam along with Anju hatched a conspiracy to kill Suresh. He involved his friend Aman, who agreed and asked for money.

"Anju assured seven thousand rupees for the crime. Upon reaching South Avenue, as per plan, the family was out for a walk while Suresh was sleeping alone at home. The juvenile and accused Aman tiptoes to their house and silently slit his throat as he was sleeping," Madhur Verma, DCP New Delhi said.
