2,20,691 pink tickets issued till 5 pm

New Delhi: The bus rides which started early on Tuesday issued 2,20,691 pink tickets to women bus passengers till 5 pm on the same day.

In a bid to provide secure and free transportation to women travelers the AAP-led government deployed bus marshals and issued free tickets to empower women. In North Delhi the number of ticketed passengers were 1,91,500 of which were 71,458 women passengers. Meanwhile, East Delhi recorded 1,29,089 passengers out of which were 42,135 female passengers. In West Delhi 2,25,239 tickets were issued while 64,958 were pink tickets for women. In south Delhi, 1,30,200 tickets were generated of which 42,140 were issues for women passengers. DTC issued data on Tuesday which shows that a total of 6,76,028 tickets were generated out of which 2,20,691 were pink tickets for women. As per the report, the percentage of free tickets issued to women was 32.65%.

State Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot distributed pink tickets at Shivaji Stadium bus depot to encourage women travellers.
