20 mobile phones worth Rs 6 lakh recovered, 22-year-old arrested

New Delhi: Delhi police on Friday arrested a 22-year-old man along with 20 mobile phones worth Rs 6 lakhs from outer Delhi area.
The accused has been identified as Deepak, a resident of Nihal Vihar. Police claimed that Deepak used to hide stolen phones in a cooler.
On January 23 at about 3.00 pm, a patrolling team consisting of Inspector Dharam Pal, SHO of Nihal Vihar, under the supervision of Akanksha Yadav, ACP, Paschim Vihar was deployed in the area of Nihal Vihar, Delhi to check and verify the activities of known criminals
During patrolling, a tip-off was received that one person who had stolen many mobile phones was roaming in the area at 50 Foot Road with the intention to sell the same and soon cops nabbed Deepak.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) MN Tiwari said during sustained interrogation accused Deepak confessed that he was drug addicted and to fulfill the lust of drug and to live the lavish life, he along with his friend Manish who lives somewhere in Chander Vihar, stolen 44 mobile phones from a shop in Shiv Ram Park.
Of these stolen phones, they had already sold 10 mobile phones to unknown persons, four (old or useless)
phones have been thrown by them in Ganda Nala and 10 mobile phones have been kept by Manish with him as his share.
"He was in search of some suitable buyers for them. In the meantime, the police party arrested him and recovered 20 advance mobile phones of Multi-National Companies from his house hidden in the Desert Cooler," said the DCP.
