2 SIs suspended in corruption case
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad's Senior Superintendent of Police has suspended two Sub-Inspectors, posted in Muradnagar police station, after an audio clip went viral in which they discussed bribery amount with an illicit liquor smuggler.
Cops said that the deal was fixed in order to release an accomplice of the mafiya and his SUV car.
According to police, the suspended Sub-Inspectors have been identified as Vipin Kumar and Deepak Kumar, posted in Kasba Police chowki under the jurisdiction of Muradnagar Police station.
Police have earlier suspended a constable named Singh Raj, posted in the same police station in connection with the case.
A senior police officer said that in the clip, the smuggler claimed that a deal of Rs 1 lakh was fixed to release his accomplice and his SUV car and he had even given Rs 50,000 to a cop for this purpose.
He further claimed that despite paying the amount to the cop, the a different vehicle was made a part of recovery in a case. He also mentioned the names of two sub-inspectors in the audio.
SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh took cognisance to the matter and SP (rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun was given the responsibility to conduct an inquiry into it.
OP Singh, SHO of Muradnagar police station said that the three cops were suspended after a report was submitted.
"All the three police officers includes two sub inspector and a constable, were found to have been involved in this shameful work and were suspended," said Singh.
