2 robbers held after scuffle with police in Dwarka

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested two robbers who fired at the constables at Baba Haridas Nagar after they confronted the robbers in Dwarka. Both the constables suffered injuries in the scuffle though they dodged the bullets fired by the robbers. One county made pistol has also been recovered from their possession.

On October 8, two Constable Sanjit and Constable Hansraj were performing patrolling duty in the area of Dhansa Road, when they received secret information about two criminals who might be carrying illegal weapons residing at AMN Road, N Block, Gopal Nagar.

Constable Sanjeet along with Constable Hansraj reached the spot as per the information where they found that the room is closed from inside. They knocked on the door, but there was no response. When they pushed the door forcefully, it got open.

Two persons were found sitting and when they were asked to disclose their identities as well as their professions, one of them took out a country made pistol and pointed it towards both the constables with the intent to kill them, however both the police personnel, sensing the situation shown extra exemplary courage and managed to save themselves by jumping over them and pressing the assailant's hands towards the ground. As a result, the fired shot missed.

Both the accused could be overpowered after a short scuffle and both the police personnel also get injured during this grappling.

They have been identified as Ramgopal Singhage (26) a resident of Tihai, New Delhi. The weapon of offence ­— a pistol— was recovered from him.

While, 02 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of co-accused Sikandar, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
